Signs
How you know
- Droppings along a wall, behind the stove, or on crawlspace joists
- Gnawed box corners, or clean holes cut in drywall and vapour barrier
- Scratching overhead at dusk, then again before dawn
- A greasy dark rub mark where the same route gets used every night
- Shredded insulation pulled into a nest, often near the hot water tank

What lives here
- Norway rat
- Heavy and a digger. Lives in sewers, compost, blackberry and under sheds, then moves into crawlspaces and garages.
- Roof rat
- Lighter and a far better climber. Runs hedges, wires and branches into soffits and attics.
- House mouse
- Gets through a gap the width of a pencil. Breeds fast enough that a small sighting is rarely a small problem.
- Deer mouse
- Comes in from greenbelt and field edges. Never dry-sweep the droppings.

Inspect everything, inside and out. Crawlspace, attic, garage, roofline, every service penetration.
Seal first. Rodent work that skips the sealing is a subscription.
Tamper-resistant stations and snap traps on the runs we found, each one mapped on your report.
Return visits to check every station and log activity, then close the file when it reads zero.

Keeping them out
- Seal any gap over 6 mm. Dryer vents, hose bibs, gas and electrical entries, garage door corners
- Cut ivy and blackberry off the building, keep hedges clear of the roofline
- Lock down compost and green bins, pick up fallen fruit
- Store bird seed and pet food in metal or rigid plastic, never the original bag

How did rats get into a house this new?
Almost always a service penetration nobody sealed. The gap around a gas line, a dryer vent with a broken flap, an open garage door corner. How old your house is matters far less than the state of its openings.
Is bait safe with pets and kids in the house?
Bait sits in locked, tamper-resistant stations, placed where a child or dog cannot reach the block, and every placement gets written on your report. Where that still is not right for your home, we trap.
How long until they are gone?
Indoor activity usually stops inside two to three weeks of the first visit. Getting to zero and holding it depends on the sealing, which is why we quote that up front instead of adding it later.
